Business DealI remember being up for a huge departmental promotion from my employer years ago. I had dotted my I’s and crossed all my T’s. For all its worth, I was beaming with anticipation of taking on a new and larger role within my organization. In my heart of hearts, I knew I had the position. Talk about dedication, I put the “D” in the word, or so I thought.

That year, I remember taking my family to Disney World with my work laptop in tote. Seriously, who takes their work laptop to Disney World?  I was the classic overachiever; come in early and stay late. Besides having a work ethic like an ox, my interview was flawless. My current role stats were exemplary, and I had a great working relationship with my Director and VP; I even won a company award for exceptional leadership and forward thinking just days before the promotion announcement took place.

As the story goes, once I returned from Disney World, I learned that I did not get the job.  In that moment, I felt crushed and deeply disappointed. Up until this point, my entire career, I knew what to do, how to pivot and what to say. But in that moment, I was clueless and speechless. If I am being completely honest, the flesh in me wanted to cuss, but the Christ in me wouldn’t allow me to do so. Click To Tweet I had come too far by the grace of God, to turn back to my former ways.

At times, God will put us in a place of distress, so that we may submit and seek His face first.

Fast forward to now, the same disappointment rendered years ago, catapulted me towards the destination that I boldly live out today in Jesus Christ.

So why am I sharing this story with you?

Because I am just crazy enough to believe that God will take your adversity and turn it into Your Advantage! #ashesforbeauty

You see, what the enemy thought was adversity in my life, God turned it around and made it my advantage. If it were up to the adversary, I would wallow in self-pity, doubt, blame, and frustration. But God!

Even when I didn’t know what to do, I knew WHO to turn too.

Through prayer and intimate time with the Lord, I was able to not only bounce back quickly, but ultimately be pursued for another opportunity by the same employer.

If you find yourself stuck between a rock and a hard place, things not panning out as you envisioned them, and obstacles mounting from all angles, renew your mind with these three scriptures:

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11 NIV

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord.“As the heavens are higher than the earth,so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:8-9 NIV

“You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives. Genesis 50:20 NIV

So be encouraged and turn to the Lord. He sees you, He hears you, and knows the desires of your heart. He also knows what is best for you too.
